Barkly Smokehouse was formed in the mid 1950's by polish immigrants to manufacture and wholesale European smallgoods to polish delicatessens around Melbourne. They also retailed these smallgoods at their shop in Barkly Street, Footscray. After several changes of ownership the company has grown and now distributes to delicatessens, some IGA supermarkets and quality food stores in the Melbourne metropolitan area.

Barkly Smokehouse manufactures only high quality and not to a price. We only use the hind legs of locally grown pork and restrict this wherever possible to female pigs. We are licenced to display the pink Australian Pork Logo on our products. Being a small company we are able to control quality and ensure the highest standards in the preparation of our products. This is also reflected by the long term involvement and commitment to the company |
We manufacture a range of hams, sausages, Viennese Frankfurts, Kabannosy, Polish Sausage, Smoked Strassburg, Tyroler, Weisswurst, Krakowska, Presswurst, Kitchen Kranski, Chicken breast fillet smoked, Liverwurst, Leberkasse, Meatloaf, Pariser Lyona and more. Many of our products include ingredient variations such as chilli to extend our range of hot and mild smallgoods. |
We are proud to have its "Grandmother Ham" placed first in the inaugural Australian Pork Mark, Ham Awards for Excellence 2010 in the "Australian Boneless Ham" Section and the "Best Australian Ham" for the overall award. The Grandmother Ham is hand-tied, brined and smoked over German beech. Although not a retail butcher, Barkly Smokehouse is happy for customers to drop by between 10am and 1pm, Monday to Thursday and pick up whole or half hams. |
